Horse riding Qwantani is truly proud of it’s herd of 25 horses. The mares, geldings and during summer young foals form part of the scenery at the resort. The herd roams wild all year long and is “at home” in the mountainous and rocky conditions, as they are all selected from Boereperd, Nooitgedacht and Basutho lines. Guests can therefore feel comfortable knowing that they are riding a horse which is suited to the terrain and that they will be able to enjoy the outride. Local horsemen/grooms accompany guests on every outride and the safety of guests is paramount, outrides are therefore offered specifically for beginners in the morning and more experienced riders in the afternoons. Children under the age of 14 are not allowed on the advanced ride unless they are experienced riders, and accompanied by an adult.
Barge cruise The Barge Cruise leaves from a small private harbour at the resort, and provides guests with the opportunity of a comfortable outing on the dam while enjoying a drink in the company of good friends (a minimum of 6 people is required for a booking, prices are available from reception). Conditions are very changeable and trips are therefore subject to good weather. The Barge is also available for private functions such as champagne breakfasts or sunset cruises. Boma evenings Boma evenings are held every Wednesday and Saturday evening, and are a large social event, providing the chance to meet new people and make friends. Central to the Boma are 2 large indoor fires which provide a cosy atmosphere in which to enjoy your meal. Braai packs, a bar and salads are provided, but you may bring your own meat and drinks along if you so wish.
