Silver Hill Lodge is a privately owned estate situated in the beautiful Kamberg Valley of the Central Drakensberg. It is a mere 35 minutes from Nottingham Road and Mooi River. The Little Berg mountain range, with Mount Cleopatra, Mount Erskine and Mount Lebanon provide the awesome backdrops of the estate.

This area is famous with Nature Lovers, Hikers and Fisherman alike, and if you simply enjoy the peace and tranquility of the mountains, then visit our paradise.    

 

 

 

 

 

Accommodation & Rates

Mountain Lodge
7 Luxury rooms all with en-suite bathrooms
Each room accommodates 4 guests
Two guests in a queen-size bed and two in single beds on the mezzanine level.
The en-suite bathrooms are equipped with both a bath and shower and towels are provided.
For chilly days, under floor heating is thermostatically controlled in each room.
A hair dryer is provided on the dressing table and a beverage tray is supplied with complimentary tea and coffee for 4 guests.
DSTV is supplied to all the rooms on a limited bouquet.

Rates: Mountain Lodge

• From 1st December 2008 - R350.00 pppn sharing.
• Single Supplement - R175.00 pppn.

Children U12 – 50% where sharing with parents.

All above rates include an English Breakfast.

Public Areas

Guests may have their breakfast and dinners in a large Dining Room fitted with a fireplace for cold days.
Lunches, snacks and tea and coffee are served in an airy and bright sun lounge which has magnificent views of the mountains.
Guests can relax in the bar lounge in front of a roaring fire and watch their favorite sport on a wall mounted 46" LCD TV.
The Reception Mezzanine is equipped with a computer connected to the internet for guests to use. Laptop users can connect wirelessly to the internet from all of the public areas and from most of the Lodge bedrooms. There is a nominal charge for this service.

Mountain Chalet
This upstairs unit sleeps a maximum of 7 people in 3 bedrooms.
The first bedroom has a double bed and a toilet en-suite and the guests can walk out onto an open patio.
The second bedroom is semi private with a double bed. The third bedroom has three single beds. The unit has one bathroom equipped with a shower.
Bed linen and Bath towels are provided.
The kitchen is fully equipped including microwave and fridge.
There is also an outdoor Braai/B.B.Q. area.
The open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, with a balcony, overlooks the estate's mountains and dams.
A DSTV decoder is provided with SABC channels. 
You may bring your own smart card if you want the full DSTV bouquet.

Mountain Retreat
This upstairs unit sleeps a maximum of 6 people.
There is a double bed in the open plan area and a double bed and 2 single beds upstairs on the mezzazine.
The unit is open plan fitted with a fireplace in the lounge, large windows and balcony with built in Braai/B.B.Q. area, overlooks the estates, mountain and dams. 
Bed linen and Bath towels are provided.
The bathroom, with its large low level window, affords one the opportunity to relax and taken in the beauty of the berg.
The kitchen is fully equipped including microwave and fridge/freezer.
A DSTV decoder is provided with SABC channels. 
You may bring your own smart card if you want the full DSTV bouquet

Activities

There are a variety of activities available in the Nottingham Road area, namely:-
Hot air ballooning, candle dipping, quad biking, are additional activities offered within a short distance of Strawberry Cottage.

Horse riding with experienced guides and horseman in the Natal Drakensberg and see some of Africa's wonderful mountainous regions and wildlife. Game include Eland, Reedbuck, Bushbuck, Duiker, Jackal and a wide variety of wonderful bird life.  Day trails usually last for 4 hours, or the 2 day trail staying overnight in tents in the mountains, or cottages and returning the following day.

Clay-pigeon Shooting - offered in two packages:-

The first package offers 28 clays released from a single trap. The second package offers also 28 clays but the clays are released from multiple traps, which becomes more challenging. Package one will cost R400 per person whereas package two will cost R425 per person.

Golf, if you are a keen Golfer, look no further than Boschoek Country Club, a short distance from the Cottage.  9 holes will cost in the region of R125.00 and 18 holes will cost R 185.00.

Fly-fishing
Wildfly offers guided fishing trips and clinics with qualified, experienced guides to a selection of 25 Stillwater's and 24km's of scheduled river. Clinic packages are available in Half day (4 hours) and full day (8 hours) clinics. Guiding and Clinic fees are charged per person:
Half day Clinic - R495 per Angler. This includes rod fees and guiding fees with an additional manual explaining all the theory of fly-fishing.

Full day Clinic - R885 per Angler. This option goes into more detail about the theory of fly-fishing and includes a light finger lunch.
Fly-fishing Clinics and Guided Adventures can be tailor made to suite your party or clients needs.

How to get there

From Nottingham Road, travel towards Rosetta (approx 7 Km’s), turn left onto the Kamberg Road and then travel for approx. 17 Km’s, to the main house and another 3 Km’s to the cottage.
