Location & Facilities

In the midst of the Chilean Patagonia, 50 kilometers south of Chaitén

through the Carretera Austral (Southern Highway), between mountains and glaciers, the crystal clear water of the Yelcho Lake appears.

Yelcho en la Patagonia is an exclusive and inviting tourist complex on the lakeshore. Here we organize excellent fishing outings, guided excursions to the Pumalin Park, Yelcho Glacier and the Futaleufú area.

Yelcho en la Patagonia is paradise for those who love the outdoors, ecotourism and of course, fly fishing.

Accommodation & Rates

The Hotel is immersed in a native forest on the Yelcho lakeshore, with an infrastructure of 1.000 mts2 built with native wood. The Hotel has eight comfortable double rooms that have private bath and a view of the Lake, it also has a great lounge, dining area, bar, central heating, satellite TV, deck and a souvenir shop.

The Hotel Reception is opened from 08:00 hrs. until 24:00 hrs. for reservations and information. Telephone and Internet is available for our guests.

Cabins. Six ample and comfortable cabins, built with native wood. Completely independent one from the other and they have a capacity for six people each. They are equipped with a kitchenette, a small refrigerator, wood burning stove, den, deck and grill.

All cabins are located a few meters from the lake and have access to one of the best beaches of the Yelcho.

Camping
There are 15 campsites for six people each with access to the lake. With a protected and roofed area, fire wood, electric light and properly equipped restrooms.

In the summer (January and February), a convenience store is opened to meet all of our guests needs, including products from our own farm, such as fresh milk and typical homemade bread.

Activities

Yelcho en la patagonia offers varied activities to its guests in the facilities of the hotel and its surroundings:

Horseback riding, mountain biking, excursions to different waterfalls near the complex, soccer and volleyball, ping pong, kayaking and exploring the best beaches on the shore lake.

Fishing
Fishing in the crystal clear waters of the Lake and River Yelcho is an adventure that Trout and Salmon fishermen can’t pass up.
In the Lake there is an abundance of Rainbow and Brown Trout, the largest in the Chilean Patagonia, with a National Fly fishing Record of 38Lbs. In the River, a large quantity of trout that feed of small insects are concentrated in the twist and turns and the deep areas.
Also, there are Chinook (King) and Coho Salmon, and at the end of the season, which is March and April, it is a spectacle to see them as they go up the river to spawn.
The Yelcho area is an excellent option to escape winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Here is the best opportunity to fish and get to know one of the last virgin corners of this planet, where you feel with intensity the force of creation.

How to get there

International flights go into Buenos Airies then transfer in Argentina to Esquel. Then a 3 hour drive to Yelcho.
