Something as special as Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge comes from having vision and taking risks – this is what Ron and Jean White had 21 years ago. They had a dream of an unspoilt river wilderness lodge where guests rapidly became friends.
Imbabala was originally built in 1987 by the White Family and first opened in 1988. Imbabala was a hugely successful camp, which competed successfully with other camps in iconic wildlife destinations such as Hwange, the Okavango Delta, Mana Pools and Chobe. The lodge was completely refurbished and re-opened on the 25th of April 2008
The Imbabala visitors’ book is a clear indication that it had become a repeat destination for visitors… something that does not happen too often.
The Lodge is situated on a 4000 acre concession in the Matetsi Safari Area, 80 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls. With 11 kilometres of Zambezi River frontage, Imbabala has unrivalled birdlife and abundant wildlife.
The Zambezi River inhabitants make staying at Imbabala a true “African Safari Experience” to remember.
The lodge is carefully situated on a riverine fringe of the mighty Zambezi River where Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia converge. Imbabala offers not only the chance to unwind but also some of the most amazing game viewing and bird watching in the region, in the seclusion of a private National Parks concession. The concession has 14 kilometers of private Zambezi river frontage and borders the Chobe Forest Reserve which is renowned for its massive Elephant population - herds of up to 1500 elephants have been seen on the floodplains below the Imbabala Safari Camp!
Shaded by ancient ebony trees, the main lodge is a charming thatched structure, consisting of a lounge, wildlife reference library with fireplace, dining room and cocktail bar. Other facilities include a swimming pool with sun deck and poolside bar. Imbabala Safari Camp accommodates only 18 guests in stone and thatch chalets with private en-suite facilities. The chalets are individually decorated and beautifully positioned with sweeping views on the Zambezi River. The lodge boasts one family room, two double and five twin bedded chalets.
