Location & FacilitiesThe “Ngwesi River House Boat”, named after the feisty Tiger fish found in abundance in the Delta, is moored in Ikoga near Sepupa. The “Ngwesi” Luxury River House Boat, consists of a upper and lower deck, and is staffed by a licensed Skipper and trained staff. The “Ngwesi” comes with it’s own “tender” boats, which are used to explore the various waterways of the Delta.![]() The Sepupa area, being a mix of riverine bush, savannah and semi-desert, is a Mecca for bird-watchers. It is located close to the beginning of the Okavango panhandle which channels the waters of the Okavango River between thick, meandering banks of papyrus before it opens up into the vast fan-shaped Delta.
Accommodation & RatesLower DeckSet aside for accommodation, the lower deck consists of 4 en suite cabins, two with twin beds and the other two with double beds. Clever designing, has created maximum privacy for each cabin. Glass sliding doors allows for wonderful views from the bedrooms. Bathrooms are spacious, with hot and cold fresh water showers. Super soft towels and superior guest amenities are provided. All cabins are tastefully decorated with the finest linen. This is an experience that you will never forget. ![]() Upper Deck The deck is the veritable artery of life from which all Okavango life forms may be viewed. There is no better way to fully appreciate the splendor of nature encapsulated in the Okavango than from this spectacular vantage point. All the hedonistic amenities provided on the squeaky clean and spacious wooden deck are conducive to relaxation, comfort and enjoyment. Large enough to dance on, reverberate to the melodious African drum or gyrate to a samba. For the more athletic and body conscious, perform your daily exercise regimen right there under the African sun or scimitar moon. Bar The Okavango heat will certainly stir up your thirst. The fully stocked and serviced wooden bar, situated on the Upper Deck, provides ample liquid refreshment. ActivitiesThe setting of Okavango River Boats is classically African, relaxed and informal while drifting under the African sky. Enjoy activities on the house boats that include:Fishing For the fly fisherman/woman, plying for tiger fish provides the ultimate challenge. If the tiger fish are not biting then the chances are good that other species such as bream will be caught instead. The necessary tackle and bait are provided along with an informative guide who will select a prime spot from where catches are to be made. You are able to fish from the River Boat or from the Tender Boats. ![]() Birding Ornithologists have long been drawn to this veritable treasure trove of bird life, which is home among others to the Pel’s Fishing Owl, which is often heard but rarely seen. The African Fish Eagle, which has one mate for life, is a common sight, perching high on the branch of a tree uttering its distinctive plaintive cry. A myriad of water birds may be viewed either in the delta from the houseboat or tender boats. Exploring The Delta’s wetland wilderness of looping channels, islands forested with palms and wide grassy floodplains are host to a magnificent array of wild life. Hippos and crocodiles can be found in the maze of waterways. Explore these waterways with your experienced Guide on one of the more maneuverable “tender” boats. Additional Activities Tsodilo Hills : Day excursions. A 53 kilometer drive (40 minutes) Bushmen paintings. Full day depart 08h00 – 16h00 The Tsodilo Hills are a rare and spiritually rewarding treat in the south-western corner of Botswana . An atmosphere of mystery and intrigue surrounds this unusual place, believed by the San (Bushmen) to be the site of first Creation. They painted more than 3 500 rock paintings against the remarkable stone faces of the hills. Some of the paintings date back to between 800 and 1300 AD. The site is held sacred by the locals and a powerful presence has been felt by all visitors to Tsodilo Hills. Mahango: Visit a nearby game reserve in Namibia . Boat Transfer from Seronga Airstrip to Houseboat: BWP 370.00 pp return *Boat Transfer costs are subject to change. The airstrip at Seronga is licensed to take public aircraft and is approximately a one hour transfer to the houseboat. Travel by road from Maun to Sepupa: Approx. 322km, Tar road all the way. Turn off at Sepupa Village (1.7km) down to Boat Station. Cars can be safely parked in a specified plot opposite Sepupa Swamp Stop. NB – Boat transfer from Sepupa Boat Station to the Houseboat is free of charge excluding fuel. From Namibia: Enter at Mohembo Border post – Approx. 68Km to Sepupa.
