Alphonse Island lies in the heart of the Indian Ocean, 7° South of the Equator and 400 kms South West of Mahé. She is a part of the Alphonse Group of Atolls that extends 20 kms from North to South and comprises three islands on two large atolls: Alphonse in the North, Bijoutier in the middle, so named for its jewel-like beauty, and St Francois Atoll in the South, named after Saint-François de Sales. The hotel is located on the East side of Alphonse Island and features 10 Individual bungalows, built along the beach. The lodge’s facilities include a Restaurant, Bar and a Swimming Pool as a fishing / activity centre.

Flying time from Mahé depends on which aircraft is used, but it usually takes around an hour to fly between Mahé and Alphonse

Insurance
Due to the remote location and limited medical facilities at Alphonse Island, compulsory travel insurance and medical evacuation insurance is required for all fishing and non-fishing companion packages.

Accommodation & Rates

Alphonse is undergoing a thorough renovation and the island is closed to conventional beach tourism.  However, 10 fly-fishermen (and their spouses) at any one time can be accommodated on the island so these guests get all two atolls for their exclusive use.  The 10 fly-fisher-folk are accommodated in the lodge’s A-Frame bungalows. All are air-conditioned, elegantly furnished and have international direct access telephone, TV, mini-bar, ceiling fan, individual safe, queen-size bed (or Twin beds on requests), en-suite bathroom with bath and African-style outside shower.

What is included
Alphonse is only sold on one week fly-fishing package which includes everything from Mahé to Mahé excluding drinks and gratuities (No Mahé costs are included). These safaris run from October to April.  Departure days are every Saturday to Saturday.  Included in the cost of this package are the charters from Mahé to Alphonse and back again.  Accommodation is in air-conditioned bungalows.  All fishermen get single rooms at no extra charge.  All meals are included as are the use of non-motorized water sport facilities on Alphonse. The prime activity is the full-day excursions to the neighbouring St Francois Atoll, one of the finest salt-water fly fishing destinations anywhere.  Crossing to St Francois is on the Tam Tam, a large diesel-engined catamaran. Once on St Francois, the fishermen head out on shallow skiffs with their local guide – using the Tam Tam as the mothership for lunches.  These St Francois activities are included in the cost.

What is not included
Items of a personal nature e.g. laundry, gratuities, alcoholic beverages, travel insurance, fishing tackle and flies.

Fishing package.
$6950 per person (single occupancy in bungalow, double occupancy / shared guide and skiff), 7 nights/6 days of fishing based on two people sharing one guide and skiff; meals and accommodations at the Alphonse Island Resort, all meals; ; round-trip air fare Mahé/Alphonse Island/Mahé; transfers on Alphonse Island on Saturday only including baggage handling; transportation to/from the fishing areas; and fishing permit.

Non-fishing Companion Package
$4000 per person (double occupancy standard bungalow) Includes round-trip air fare Mahé/Alphonse Island/Mahé; accommodation based on double occupancy in standard chalet for 7 nights/6 days; three meals a day; non-motorised water sports and afternoon tea.  No guide service or transportation while on the island other than bicycles.

What is not included
Departure taxes; alcoholic beverages and soft drinks; gratuities; baggage overweight charges levied by airline; any meals and accommodations in Mahé; any extra transportation services required on Mahé; items of a personal nature including fishing tackle and any other items not specifically listed in the inclusions. All dollar figures are listed on a per-person basis.

Seychelles International Airport in Victoria, Mahe is accessed from various European gateways via the services of Air Seychelles. Flight time from Mahé to Alphonse is about 60 minutes.
