Indigo Bay - Location and facilities Indigo Bay is an exquisite island resort, situated on the pristine Bazaruto Island, the largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago. The resort offers exclusive island accommodation providing the quintessential Indian Ocean island holiday, as well as a gateway to the unspoiled beauty of the Bazaruto Archipelago with its exquisite natural beauty and ecological diversity.

Surrounded by azure waters and basking in the tropical sun, Indigo Bay is an idyllic and totally unspoiled island paradise. Located on the south west shore of Bazaruto Island of the mainland coast of Mozambique, the luxury resort is a natural gateway to the enchanted archipelago.

The Bazaruto Archipelago, a small group of islands, is situated about 40 kilometres (25 miles) off the Mozambique coast.

The diverse ecosystem contained in the archipelago caters for a wide range of interests. The white beaches and protected reefs surrounding the islands support dolphin, dugong, game fish and giant lobster.

The shallow, crystal clear waters with dazzling soft corals, starfish, anemones, seahorses and a bewildering range of beautiful fish, extends to dive sites and many other water activities.

Accommodation & Rates

Indigo Bay Island Resort & Spa offers a variety of rooms ranging from 29 beach chalets, beachfront honeymoon chalet, bay view honeymoon suite, luxury bay view suites, a presidential suite. All rooms are air - conditioned, fully mosquito screened, with en suite shower and / or baths.

The Golfinho Restaurant specializing in seafood, the historic Nepture Bar, and air-conditioned conference Centre, children’s leisure centre, salt-water swimming pool and wet pool bar, fishing and dive shop, curio shop, the “Dunes” golf course, a fitness centre offering the latest, state of the art gym equipment, A new Wellness sanctuary / Spa and basic medical clinic.

Per Person Sharing – Low season
From:  $465 to $2100 per suite
Single Rate  : USD698 per person per night

Per Person Sharing – Peak Season

From: $555 to $2500 per suite
Single Rate : USD833 per person per night

What is included
Accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, bottled water in room, tea/coffee, non-motorised watersport activities/equipment & Park Fees.

What is not included

Transfers to/from the resort, domestic & international airport taxes, laundry and beverages not specified above and Travel Insurance.  * Specialised beverages are available to order and charged separately *

Children
Indigo Bay accepts children of all ages.

Child Policy
  • Only 1 child 12yrs & under allowed to share with two full paying adults in a beach chalet, child on roll-away bed
  • Children 3yrs and under stay free of charge when sharing with two full paying adults in a beach chalet
  • Children 3yrs and under eat free of charge
  • child 4 to 12 years sharing with two full paying adults in one standard beach chalet will pay 50% of adult per person sharing rate
  • children 4 – 18 yrs sharing own standard beach chalet, will pay 75% of adult per person sharing rate
  • child in own single standard beach chalet, will pay 75% of adult single rate

Indigo Bay - ActivitiesScuba diving: Bazaruto Island is one of Africa's premier scuba diving destinations. This is the top attraction at Indigo Bay for most visitors as the marine life is simply spectacular.

Dune Boarding: The dunes of Bazaruto Island are of the highest in the archipelago and make for exciting dune boarding.

Horse Riding: Offering a number of exciting trails around the island varying in length and difficulty.

Watersports: Non motorized Watersport (Kayaking. Windsurfing, Hobie Cat, Gypsy Sailing Dinghy, Laser Sailing Boat, Pedallo Boats)

Games and Other Sports:
(Volleyball, Beach Tennis, Frisbee’s, Flip toss, Rotor Spin Tennis, Pentaque, Tennis, Badminton)

Motorised Watersport: (Sausage Skiing, Tube Skiing, Water Skiing, Knee Boarding

Island drives: Another special activity at Indigo Bay, involves fascinating drives in our 4x4 vehicle on and around Bazaruto Island

Snorkelling: There are a number of excellent dive sites where snorkellers will be able to appreciate the stunning tropical reefs, whales, dolphins, marine turtles and other exotic marine life.

Bird watching: With more than 180 species of birds, Indigo Bay Island Resort is a bird lovers paradise.

Wellness Centre / Spa:
Guests can enjoy an extensive range of spa treatments at Indigo Bay brought to you by the Sanctuary Group.  The 1033 sq metre spa offers five treatment rooms as well as an ice pool, wet room, hydrotherapy pool, health bar and relaxation areas to pamper even the most jaded city soul.  Treatments include Swedish Massages, milk baths, body brushes, body wraps, hot stone therapies, reflexology and facials all designed to impart African energy, goodness and vitality.  Therapists are on hand to pamper you with frangipani extracts from Elemis or indigenous Cape fynbos from the Moya range, which blends chamomile, geranium, snowbush, lanyana and bucu to provide an African Antidote to modern living.

Sport Fishing on the Bazaruto Archipelago: The Bazaruto Archipelago has been considered one of East Africa’s best, and certainly Mozambique’s, premier fishing destinations since the late 50’s, when pioneer anglers fishing from the basic fleet at Santa Carolina island discovered a very healthy population of giant black marlin in a sea which teemed with other, then so called “lesser gamefish.”

A great variety of offshore species such as big wahoo, dorado, king mackerel, giant trevally and tuna, to name a few, as well as a great diversity of inshore species on the leeward of the islands, making it an ideal destination for light tackle and fly fisherman.
